The ESL teachers in Thailand will not face any problem to get accommodations while teaching there. Mostly, the schools will provide accommodations to the teachers. The houses in Thailand are comparatively small and the amenities in the houses are very limited. As the schools in Thailand are located in the suburbs, the accommodations in these areas are not very modern or of Western standards. While staying in Thailand as an ESL teacher, you have to be aware that modern amenities like A/C, fridge, DVD, kitchen and washing machines might not be available. The accommodations provided to the ESL teachers in Thailand have a bed, closet and a fan if there is no AC. There are accommodations where all the modern amenities are there and there are also balconies in it. You will not miss a washing machine here as the local ladies do laundry well for three hundred to five hundred baht a month.

The schools in Thailand provide accommodations to the students free of cost. If the teachers have agreed to stay in arranged accommodations provided by the school has to do so or instead pay a security deposit. Some schools don't provide with accommodation instead provides a fixed accommodation allowance. The amount may vary location wise.

The school only pays the rent of the room and it is not responsible for the electric bill, water bill or phone bills. The candidates will have to pay a water bill of 50 – 150 baht per month. The cost of electricity is 5 to 7 baht per unit and the land line phones cost 5 baht. Thai homes generally do not have kitchen but food in the local restaurants are quite cheap and hygienic.

A deposit of one or two months is charged while taking up the place which is returned while leaving. The deposit money is usually between eight thousand baht to fifteen thousand baht and the schools often pay this sum and deduct it from the salary of the teacher.
